We’ve got some great news for fans of comic fantasy and quality television: Sir Terry Pratchett has established an independent company called Narratavia Productions to exploit the TV, film and digital rights of his large canon of work.
The indie will take control of existing Pratchett projects, previously being produced by Prime Focus, as well as develop new ideas.
It will be overseen by Pratchett’s business manager Rob Wilkins and Rhianna Pratchett, his daughter. Each will have an equal stake in Narratavia, named after a goddess invented by Pratchett who supposedly helps writers (not to be confused with Anoia: Goddess of Things That Get Stuck In Drawers).
Projects in the pipeline include The Watch, a police procedural series based on characters from Pratchett’s Discworld series of fantasy novels. The 13 episode series will be written by The Borgias and Bletchley Circle scribe Guy Burt.
Also on the agenda is a 4 part adaptation of Good Omens, Pratchett’s collaboration with Neil Gaiman.
Let’s hope more adaptations follow: Dame Maggie Smith would make an excellent Granny Weatherwax.
